The Tree House Project - Summer 2023

​

Community arts engagement project for families and children with SEND needs based at the new Tree House Early Years Centre in Cruddas Park.

My role as lead artist was to deliver a variety of arts activities and to produce five interior murals for the newly repurposed building. Artworks by staff, volunteers and the families involved can be seen displayed throughout the whole building.

Jointly funded by HAF and Newcastle Arts Development Team.

‘Find Your Talent’  Recycled Christmas Tree Project 2009

​

Based at the House of Objects and working with Yr 5 children to produce and decorate a 12ft tree made from recycled materials. The tree was one of five artist led creations which were lit and displayed in the grounds at the Rising Sun Country Park.

​

Byker ‘Yummie Mummies’ Textiles Project 2009​

​

Textiles project making a wall hanging of individual panels which each participant decorated using tie-dye, embroidery, machine and hand sewing, appliqué and painting. The main themes were friendship, motherhood and love conveyed with a traditional look and feel. The work is displayed in the groups meeting place in Byker.

East Herrington ‘Outdoor Space’ project - 2009

​

A project to transform a disused outdoor space into an active learning area and friendship garden. This was a whole school project with the children contributing to various design features. Together we produced a mixture of indoor and outdoor artwork which is displayed in the school and around the outdoor space.

The overall design was created and executed by myself and ceramicist Judy Caplin with building and woodwork done by Steve Brown.​
